Pedro F. Finisterra

Born in 1994, Lisbon, studied at Conservatório de Música de Santarém, having concluded his secundary studies on Musical Training in 2013 and studied composition under Jorge Pereira.

Pedro did a Major in Composition at Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa (2013-16), studying under Carlos Marecos, Carlos Caires and Luís Tinoco. He also had classes with António Pinho Vargas, Sérgio Azevedo, João Madureira and José Luís Ferreira. He is presently on a Master Degree in Composition at ESML under Carlos Marecos.

He studied Jazz at Hot Club de Portugal and was a member of Big Band Júnior (2010-14), conducted by Claus Nymark, having recorded with them their first CD “Pegadas Azuis”, from which the track “Hora de Ponta” was composed by him. He also participated on several workshops in Portugal and abroad of Composition (Luigi Abbate, Achim Bornhöft, Ivan Moody, Apostolos Paraskevas), Computer Assisted Composition (Gonçalo Gato), Jazz (Mário Delgado, Nelson Cascais, Gonçalo Marques, Massimo Cavalli), Guitar (Dejan Ivanovich, Gerald Garcia, Eli Kassner, Chris Ruebens, Hans Werner Huppertz, Irina Kulikova, Roland Dyens and others), Choir Conducting (Gonçalo Lourenço, Paul Caldwell, Eugene Rogers, Stephen Coker and others), Conduction® (Lawrence ‘Butch’ Morris) and other subjects.
