Carlos Brito Dias

Carlos Brito Dias (1991) is developing his PhD in Arts at the University of Antwerp and Royal Conservatory of Antwerp (KCA), under the guidance of Pascal Gielen and Wim Henderickx, with the subject “Integrating Portuguese traditional sounds in new compositions”. At the same time, Brito Dias studies Orchestral Conducting with Ivo Venkov. Graduated in Composition by the Escola Superior de Música, Artes e Espetáculo (Oporto), Brito Dias attended seminars and masterclasses of Composition (P. Dusapin, K. Saariaho, W. Mitterer, E. Nunes, I. Fedele), Musical Pedagogy (J. Prendas, J. Wuytack, P. van Hauwe), Orchestral Conducting (J. Sébastien Béreau) and Choir Conducting (O. Reeves).

Carlos Brito Dias began his studies at the Calouste Gulbenkian Music Conservatory – Braga, with F. Salema (Piano), F. Ribeiro (Trumpet) and A. Ruiz (Composition), among others. He recently worked with several conductors such as D. Spouras, K. Deseure, P. Rundel, and different ensembles and orchestras (Sinfonieta de Braga, Remix Ensemble, Orquestra Sinfónica do Porto/Casa da Música, Antwerp Symphony Orchestra, Logos Foundation, deCompagnie, Champdaction, Symphony Orchestra of Ruse, ensemble recherche). His works were performed in Belgium, Bulgaria, Germany and Portugal. Carlos Brito Dias also wrote music for short movies, theater, robots’ orchestra and projects with dancers and visual artists.
