Gabriel Duarte

Gabriel Duarte da Silva, Brazilian composer and clarinetist, was born in Osasco – São Paulo in 1996. He began his musical studies at the age of 12, at the São Paulo Municipal Music School and played in the orchestra of the same institution – São Paulo Municipal Youth Symphony Orchestra, 2014 –, under Érica Hindrikson. As a clarinetist, Gabriel performed in different ensembles such as orchestras, choro’s groups and big bands (jazz).

He studies composition, orchestration and arranging at the São Paulo State Music School (EMESP – Tom Jobim), with Rodrigo Lima, André Ribeiro and Carlos Iafelice. He graduated in Music – Composition at the University of São Paulo.

In 2017, Gabriel won the 1st prize of the 4th Composition Competition of the “5ª Academia de Flauta de Verão” – Oporto, Portugal.
