Luís Mandacaru

Luís Mandacaru (1997) initiated his musical studies at the age of 7, at Sociedade Musical União Paredense. He completed his high school music studies in Composition with Eurico Carrapatoso and Daniel Schvetz as mentors. Luís is currently in his final year of undergraduate degree in Composition at the Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa with João Madureira, Luís Tinoco and Carlos Caires. His piece “Lied for Flute and Piano” won the 1st Prize of the 7th Composition Prize 21st Century – Tribute to Fernando Lapa, in 2016. Later in 2017, Luís composed “Hexagrama” which received Honorable Mention through the 6th Fernando Lopes-Graça International Composition Competition. Luís Mandacaru was recently selected as one of the three composers to be participating in an interdisciplinary artistic creation program at the Victor Córdon Dance Studios – Young Composers program for the 2019/2020 season.
