Luís Soldado

Luís completed the D.Mus at the Royal College of Music, studying composition with Colin Matthews, supported by the Portuguese Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia, in 2012. He is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the Centro de Estudos de Sociologia e Estética Musical, Universidade Nova de Lisboa, Lisbon.

Luis’s music includes orchestral, chamber and vocal works. Recent collaborators include Grupo de Música Contemporânea de Lisboa, London Contemporary Chamber Orchestra, Nederlands Blazers Ensemble, Orquestra do Algarve, RCM Sinfonietta, Orquestra Gulbenkian and Composers Ensemble.

Among his most recent works are the opera Hotel Suite, premiered in London in 2011, the silent film score for The Wolves, by Rino Lupo (commission by the 2ª UK Portuguese Film Festival), premiered at the Barbican Centre in London in 2011, and the opera Fado Olissiponense, premiered in Lisbon in 2012.
