Lament and Black Sea Dance

This piece consists of two consecutive parts; Lament and Black Sea Dance. While writing the Lament movement, I was inspired by the music of Turkish Minstrels. Minstrels sing with the accompaniment of “saz” or “bağlama” in response to a sad or happy event, the music and lyrics are almost always improvised. That’s why the lament has a very free structure. In the Black Sea Dance, I was inspired by the folklore dances of this region. The dance incorporates elements from fast and energetic folklore music.
